What Music Means To Me

“Isn’t it weird how there’s always a song that expresses my feelings.”
So many times certain songs have been like lifelines for me, they’ve reached out to me in my time of need, whenever I’ve been up against it, alienated or alone and have helped to inspire me to keep on fighting another day.
Having experienced first hand how powerful and life altering music can be, I have made it my life’s mission to try and write songs that could reach out to others, in the same way that so many songs have done for me, and provide some form of comfort, healing or positive inspiration.
Whenever times have been hard in my life and true friends have been hard to find, I have always been able to find certain songs that have been a tremendous comfort and have helped me through. I believe that music can be a great source of empathy. Certainly for me, it has reached out and enabled me to feel less alone. I have frequently found salvation in the lyrics of great songs with real meaning behind them. It’s music like that which continues to be my one consistent lifelong friend, my saving grace. I just want to try and write music that might go some way to being there for others like so many songs have been for me.
Some songwriters, through their lyrics, offer you a window into their soul, allowing you to truly connect and identify in a way that you sometimes can’t even achieve with your closest friends. Personally, for me, it’s really only music that has kept me from feeling less like an alien in this world.
It’s magical to me how music can unite and connect people in such a deep and profound way. Certain lyrics can make you feel like you’re not alone in the way that you feel and let you know that there’s someone else out there who understands. It’s very healing and comforting and it’s that aspect, of being able to truly reach others through music, which remains the driving motivation behind why writing songs is my absolute passion.
